"Remember Those Nights" sounds like it's lifted straight out of the soundtrack to every movie in the 80s. Magnificent sound, catchy chorus and a great guitar solo that could have been taken from any Def Leppard track from that era. The vocals are also very typical of the 80s, something in between Richard Marx and Joe Elliott with the characteristics they have now. And the more times I listen to it, the more I get drawn back to the memories of my youth and when a song can do that, then for me you have hit the right spot."

"The four pieces that make up the debut EP represent a heartfelt and spontaneous homage to a tradition that is still in vogue, a tradition that gave birth to Foreigner and Journey among others. What decisively emerges is the elegance that characterises the refined passages and satisfying, captivating works."

BIOGRAPHY

Star Vision is a rock-pop AOR act based in Stockholm, Sweden. Founded by Scott van Dort, Star Vision was born out of nostalgia for the 80s – a time when blockbuster films filled the big screen, guitar solos ruled the radio, and epic summers created memories that would last forever.

The idea for Star Vision first came about during the pandemic when reminiscing about brighter days and the freedom and innocence of youth. Following two introductory singles in late 2022, Star Vision's debut EP  'Another Time, Another Place' was released in March 2023 featuring four songs that captured the spirit of yesteryear without irony or cliché. The EP was recorded and produced by van Dort and mixed by Sefi Carmel of Soundtrack Creation and SphereTrax.

In March of 2024, Star Vision released its sophomore EP,  'Four More Reasons Why'. Mixed by Stefan Boman (Roxette, The Cardigans, The Hellacopters) at the legendary Atlantis Studios in Stockholm and mastered by Tony Lindgren (Billie Ellish, Opeth, Sepultura) at Fascination Street Studios in Örebro, Sweden, the EP shows a clear progression and a natural evolution while retaining its AOR roots.

Van Dort grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia and was fascinated by the power of music from an early age. One of his earliest memories is of his Dad, also a musician, teaching him "how to listen to music" by studying the vocal harmonies of The Eagles. Van Dort grew up listening to the music of Foreigner, ABBA, The Beatles, Grandfunk Railroad, and everything on 80s radio. His first cassette was Bryan Adams' 'Reckless'.

After discovering Guns n' Roses' 'Appetite For Destruction', he picked up his first instrument, a bass guitar, when he was 11 years old. By age 16, he was playing in bands in and around Melbourne. His ambition led him to move to Canada. After just two months, he formed a rock trio that would record their demo at the legendary Greenhouse Studios in Vancouver soon after forming.

A year later, the trio would fly to Australia to record an album in Sydney and perform shows with several well-known Australian acts. The group disbanded soon after and van Dort then devoted what would become the next decade to songwriting, learning how to sing, play guitar and piano.

In 2007, van Dort moved to Los Angeles and, after what felt like an eternity, finally started performing music again. In 2009, he formed alt-rock duo The Black String Theory. Backed only by a drummer and pre-recorded tracks, van Dort simultaneously sang and played both guitar and piano, often during the same song.

The duo released two EPs between 2010 and 2012. The 2010 self-titled debut EP was mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer, Chris Testa (Jimmy Eat World, Switchfoot, Mat Kearney) in Burbank, CA and mastered by Tim Young (Editors, Massive Attack, The Clash, Bat For Lashes) at Metropolis Mastering in London.

The EP included the songs 'A Lifelong Mystery' which was a 2011 UK Songwriting Contest semi-finalist, and 'Too Late', which was featured in the closing credits of 2010 award-winning Australian short film ‘Home’.

From 2013 to 2015, van Dort was given the opportunity to produce music for two creative agencies, which included a
marketing campaign for the film, A Good Day to Die Hard (20th Century Fox) and two award-winning web series. He also composed cues for the annual Los Angeles Science Fiction One-Act Play Festival, Sci-Fest:LA, collaborating with directors such as Dan Castellaneta ("The Simpsons") and Philippe Mora ("The Howling").

After leaving Los Angeles, van Dort moved to Sweden in 2017, leading to the formation of Star Vision.
