About 'Running with the Night'
Originally released by Lionel Richie in 1983, 'Running with the Night' became one of the defining songs of his early solo career. Star Vision's version reimagines the track through an 80s-inspired electronic-pop and AOR lens, retaining the melodic character of the original while bringing it into the musical world of Star Vision.
Following the success of the 'Four More Reasons Why' EP, 'Running with the Night' continued the collaboration with Greek guitarist Jimmy Konsta, whose melodic lead work had featured prominently on the EP. His involvement was particularly fitting given one of the defining moments of Lionel Richie's original recording: the guitar solo performed by Toto guitarist Steve Lukather. Rather than attempting to recreate Lukather's part, Konsta brings his own voice and approach to the solo, pushing the Star Vision version further towards its AOR side.
The recording also features Italian bassist Luca Giachi, with Scott van Dort performing the vocals and all other instruments. The track was recorded and produced by van Dort in Stockholm, Sweden, before being mixed and mastered by Matt Dougherty in Chicago, USA. Dougherty previously worked as an engineer on records by artists including Disturbed, Megadeth, Staind, 3 Doors Down, Pop Evil and Sevendust, before moving into mixing and production for independent artists.
Since its release, 'Running with the Night' has become the most-streamed Star Vision song to date on Spotify.
